In this way it was impossible not to notice the shortcomings of the automatic movement, which too often sends the player for a walk or worse still nails him in place instead of anticipating the movement, giving the opponent too easy points. In the tested version it was also impossible to directly command the character, a function delegated to the secondary controller, which unfortunately was absent. This does not change during the service phase, since the dynamics are identical to what happens with the normal controller, only that instead of performing the movement correctly, you will have to anticipate your gesture with respect to the animation of the character, otherwise you will collect more double faults. Beyond the simple decision between a cross-shot, a straight shot or a lob, it’s virtually impossible to control the destination of the ball, and it’s not uncommon to move the Move to perform a backhand and see your alter ego perform a completely different shot. During the test phase it is impossible not to notice how, despite the repeatedly vaunted precision of the system, it is enough to move the controller almost at random to make more than decent shots. The speech becomes completely different when you hold the Move.

Overall, this control system, after an inevitable running-in period, is definitely satisfying, since it allows almost total control on the shot and direction, and which rewards the players who will commit themselves to learning it. It will therefore be up to us to decide whether to play a safe serve, or whether to force the hand in search of the Ace, or even just to unbalance the opponent. The more we pull the stick back, the sharper the curve will become, and the harder it will be to hit the ball at the right moment. By pulling the lever towards us, a sinusoid parabola will appear, in which the maximum speed and the perfect position are obviously positioned at the highest point, with a bar that moves quickly from right to left. Particularly different from the usual is the strike system. Artificial intelligence, at least in the tested version, helped us understand if we were doing well, underlining each vote with a judgment on timing, an option that undoubtedly helps the less experienced but that can be removed once you get the hang of it. You will have understood that to take advantage of this system well, you must carefully check each phase of the game, always trying to be in the ideal position to perform the perfect shot. At this point you can let go of the stick and perform a cut shot or move the lever forward to perform a lob, obviously always angling the shot as you like, but this time the direction must be given during the loading phase. If, on the other hand, you have more time available, for example in the game from the baseline, pulling the lever back will charge a more powerful shot. More specifically, by tapping the analog forward you perform a straight or a backhand, and if you want you can angle the shot to the right or left. To set the type of shot and the direction, in fact, you will have to use the analog stick (although it will always be possible to use the keys), moving it with the right timing according to the position of the two players and that of the ball. The graphic rendering of the players is very respectable.Īs for the version tested with the pad, the control system is inspired, in a certain sense, by the Fight Night series. The result is Grand Slam Tennis 2, a game with two distinct souls, one “casual” and one more simulation, which alternate according to the type of control used.
PRECIO DEL GRAND SLAM TENNIS 2 PS4 SERIES
Perhaps this is precisely why EA has decided to bring the series to the current-gen, obviously revolutionizing the graphics but also combining the classic old pad with motion control. Only the first Grand Slam Tennis for Wii has tried with little success to undermine its dominance, offering one of the best tennis simulations ever seen for the Nintendo console. Together with the historic Virtua Tennis, the world of tennis simulations is now almost entirely monopolized by the Top Spin series.
